Art Education - Unleash the power of creativity!

The Art program in general at Rowan is created to be flexible allowing you to prepare for a career in art, whether commercial art and design, fine arts, other arts-related professions or teaching.

As an Art Education major you will train and develop as an artist, and as a teacher, giving you the educational philosophy and methodology to teach your profession. Our program includes an in-depth focus on a single studio with the support of an exceptional staff of studio and art education faculty, and close cooperation with public schools for field experiences and student teaching. Rowan will prepare you as an outstanding art teacher for grades Kindergarten through 12 in the schools of New Jersey. However, because of the accreditations by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, many graduates teach in schools across the country.

You'll train in spacious well-equipped studios with separate studios for each art area. Two galleries are set aside for professional exhibits, with a special gallery reserved for student shows.
With our location so close to Philadelphia, New York and Washington, you'll have plenty of opportunity to attend art events, network in the field and entertain visiting professional artists and exhibitions.
