Biological Sciences
Excellent teaching, research opportunities and professional potential.

If you're interested in a science-related career, admission to medical school or other health professional program, or science teaching, then Biological Sciences may be the right major choice for you.

Rowan's bachelor of science in Biological Sciences program requires you to get a broad background in biology but maintains lots of flexibility for you to build your own specialty track to suit your career goals. Concentrations include Pre-Medicine/Pre-Health, and specialty areas include Botany, Molecular Genetics, Cellular and Microbiology, Ecology, Environmental Science, and Zoology.

Our faculty have wide-ranging experiences and expertise in evolution, zoology, botany, ecology, microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, marine biology, anatomy, physiology, and applied biology, and are dedicated to your undergraduate education and research. Underclassmen actively work in the lab and in the field. Research is not limited to seniors or graduate students. Many majors have presented their research at meetings and symposia regionally and nationally. Some have even received competitive research fellowships and grants from national organizations.

All of your classes and labs are small in size, so you'll receive plenty of individual attention and hands-on experience. You will not be a nameless face in a giant auditorium! And, you'll work in a brand-new $47 million facility dedicated solely to science study and research, and one of the best equipped on the East coast.

Graduates go on to medical and other professional schools, graduate schools and jobs, building successful careers in medicine, research, education, industry, government service, and more. The Department has affiliations with a large number of professional schools to help you get the professional degree you need after graduation.
