Communication Studies - The power to change lives!

Communication: one of the most powerful forces shaping our lives. It's exciting, compelling and central to all human social processes. As a Communication Studies major you'll explore the ideas and skills of communication, the processes involved in the production of messages, the actual messages that people/organizations/cultures produce, the process of the communication, and the phenomenal effect of that communication on our lives and society.

You may engage in mass communication (speeches, movies, music, or political campaigns), or look at interpersonal communication-family communication, small group communication, friendships or romance. Or, you may examine business communication: superior/subordinate communication, sexual harassment, organizational networks or office socialization.

Because your study of communication will cross many domains, you'll be well-prepared to enter a variety of fields after graduation - from graduate school or law school; to pursuing a career in business such as human resources manager, corporate trainer or communication consultant; as a communication specialist including media relations, corporate mediator or public information officer; perhaps a position in government such as speech writer, lobbyist or campaign director; or in social services, social work, non-profit organizations or career and academic counseling.

The possibilities are endless. And, through your expertise, you will help change lives.
