This 13-week SHRM Learning System Course is designed to prepare participants
for the PHR and SPHR certification examinations administered by the Human
Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). You can use this course to gain
in-depth knowledge of human resource management or to prepare for the
HRCI exam. Computer-based testing is available May 1, 2009 thru June 30, 2009 at 250 testing sites worldwide.
The course is designed to provide you with an overview of key areas
in HR management. The program contains six modules that correspond to
the six functional areas defined by the human resource profession. The
modules feature in class instruction, application exercises, and a module
test.
*New Hybrid Course : Rowan University will begin offering a hybrid course (part in-person and part-online). The in-person traditional meetings will take place on the Rowan Glassboro campus and the remaining sessions will be held online. Participants will use the same course materials and will cover the same topics as in the traditional in-person course.

Laraine V. Knauss,
SPHR, is director of human resources for Food Sciences Corporation in Mt. Laurel. She
also has held management positions with Color Graphics, Inc. and Donnelley
Rocappi, Inc. An alumna of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania,
Laraine's specializations include organizational management and industrial
relations. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Tri-State Human Resource Management
Association, a Tri-State HRMA Board member, and co-chair of that organization's
conference committee.
Jack C. Nestor, SPHR, brings a unique blend of public
and private sector experience to the classroom. Currently HR Director with DPT Laboratories, Jack has held management positions with pharmaceutical and chemical companies as well as numerous municipalities
including the City of Wildwood, NJ, the Township of Lower Merion, PA,
and the Town of Salem, NH. Jack is a career generalist with special emphasis
on recruiting and employee/labor relations. He has been a member of SHRM
for 16 years and is past president of the Tri-State Human Resource
Management Association (TSHRMA).
Monica R. McClintock, SPHR, began her career in Human Resources more than 25 years ago, joining Albert's Organics, a subsidiary of United Natural Foods, Inc., in 2004 as Human Resource Director. Previously, she worked in various business arenas including consulting, healthcare, printing and high technology. Monica graduated cum laude from Rider University in 1999 earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Human Resource Management. She gained the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and completed the Rutgers Human Resource Management certification program. As a long term member of SHRM, Monica served two years as President of the Tri-State Human Resource Management Association (TSHRMA) and is a current member of the Board of Directors. Monica is the proud recipient of the 2007 Delaware Valley Human Resources Person of the Year.
Dan Sell, SPHR,
is the Director of Human Resources with Lannett Company, Inc. in Philadelphia. He is a senior HR professional with extensive leadership and management experience in companies in various service and manufacturing industries, working with both domestic and international operations. His experience includes Fortune 500, IPO, and privately held companies. He has successfully integrated human resource strategy with the overall business strategy to support immediate and long-term objectives of the business. Dan has been a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for over twenty-five years. He is Past President and current member of the Board of Directors of the Tri-State Human Resource Management Association, an affiliated SHRM Chapter. In 2003 he was recognized as the Delaware Valley HR Person of the Year. The five SHRM chapters sponsoring that award represent almost 5,000 HR professionals in the greater Philadelphia area.
Robert Witkoski, SPHR, has more than 21 years of human
resource experience and is currently the manager of human resources for
CNT Corporation in Mt. Laurel. He has also been the senior
HR manager for a petro-chemical industry firm, and has held HR management
positions in transportation and hi-tech electronics industries. A past
president of the Tri-State Human Resources Association, Bob is a life
member and an active Board member. He has also served as SHRM’s
NJ State Director and currently sits on the organization’s state
council.
Eligibility Requirement:
According to HRCI, candidates must have two years of HR exempt-level
experience to qualify to take either the PHR and SPRH exam. Also, students
and recent graduates who are within twelve months of graduating from a bachelor's
or master's degree program are welcome to take the PHR or GPHR exam in the
student/recent graduate category.
