Rowan University at Camden
Educational Opportunity Fund Program (EOF)
The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) is open to financially and educationally disadvantaged New Jersey residents who have a high school diploma or its equivalent. Applicants must be interested in attending college full time and be able to attend the summer program.
The EOF Program at Rowan University at Camden plans a comprehensive and intensive academic summer program for new EOF students. During the program students are engaged in a variety of courses that are designed to prepare participants for the Reading and Math Accuplacer exam. In addition, students enroll in two credited courses from their specific academic program. Finally, students also engage in structured study periods, skill developing workshops, cultural activities and other activities to promote a successful transition from highschool to college.
Each EOF student is assigned to one of the three counselors available on campus. The counselors provide individual and group counseling sessions on a variety of topics and issues facing students. In addition, the counselors serve as an advocate for students. One of the major goals of the counseling staff is to develop ways to assist in retaining students in the program and university. The EOF program provides structured study, academic advising, and tutoring services for the students in the program. The Counseling staff develops a series of academic workshops throughout the year to provide students with the necessary information needed to achieve academic success. The workshops are based on the topics of major requirements, registration, study skills, test taking, and career advisement.
