Rowan University at Camden
Educational Opportunity Fund Program (EOF) The Educational Opportunity Fund is open to financially and educationally disadvantaged New Jersey residents who have a high school diploma or its equivalent. Applicants must be interested in attending college full time and be able to attend the summer program. The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program at Rowan University at Camden EOF Program plans a comprehensive and intensive academic summer program for new EOF students. During the program students are engaged in courses based on the results of the New Jersey Basic Skills exam. In addition, students enroll in two credit courses. Students are also involved in non-credit courses designed to provide them with key information needed to succeed and survive their first year at the university.
Each EOF student is assigned to one of the three counselors available on campus. The counselors provide individual and group counseling sessions on a variety of topics and issues facing students. In addition, the counselors serve as an advocate for students. One of the major goals of the counseling staff is to develop ways to assist in retaining students in the program and university. The EOF program provides tutoring services for the students in the program. The Counseling staff develops a series of academic workshops throughout the year to provide students with the necessary information needed to achieve academic success. The workshops are based on the topics of major requirements, registration, study skills, test taking, and career advisement.
Throughout the year EOF students may participate in the EOF Mentoring/Ambassador program. The purpose of this program is to train EOF students to be mentors to new EOF students throughout the academic year. Through this experience continuing students have the opportunity to learn more about the university policies and procedures and develop leadership skills.
