International Students:

Program Overview:

The IELP at Rowan at Camden has a forty year history of teachign academic English and providing international students, immigrants and newcomers access to higher education.

Classes are Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Fridays from 9:00 am. to 12:00 p.m. Friday afternoons are spent doing programmatic activities and excursions.

The curriculum uses an integrated language and thematic approach which allows the students to develop academic content knowledge in a classroom environment that is open to exploration of ideas and language development.

• Oral presentation skills
• American history and culture
• American literature
• Pronunciation
• Grammar

Classes follow the regular university semester schedule. Fall and spring semesters are fifteen weeks; the summer semester is five weeks.

The IELP has five levels ranging from beginning to advanced.

Tuition:

  • Tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year is $3,000 per semester for IELP students
  • Tuition for Summer Program 2013 is $1,200
  • IELP students who are permanent residents of New Jersey may be eligible for our tuition grant program
  • Pathway Program students will pay full-time out-of-state undergraduate tuition and fees

Program Dates:

  • Spring 2013 semester: January 22, 2013 - May 3, 2013 - SPRING 2013 SEMESTER IS CLOSED
  • Summer 2013 program: July 1, 2013 - August 1, 2013 - ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SUMMER 2013
  • Fall 2013 semester: September 3, 2013 - December 6, 2013 - ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR FALL 2013

Testing Dates:

  • For Summer 2013:
    • Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 424
    • Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 424
  • For Fall 2013:
    • Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 424
  • International students will take the test upon arrival at the university. Be sure to contact Jackie McCafferty or Jay Tran with your arrival date.

Residents and citizens of the United States , please bring the following with you when you come for testing:

  1. Identification (permanent resident card, driver's license, social security card, passport, etc.)
  2. Proof of high school graduation (diploma and/or transcripts). If you attended college in your country, please bring those documents also.
  3. If you are interested in applying for our tuition grant program, you must bring your or your guardian's tax forms from the previous year.
