Rowan University at Camden

Expect more. Achieve more.

Welcome to Rowan University at Camden. We are located in the University District of Camden, New Jersey. Rowan has been part of the Camden community for over 40 years. We have experienced positive growth from our early beginnings as Glassboro State Urban Center providing training for local teachers and assistants, to a growing branch campus with academic majors, general education courses, ESL (English as a Second Language) and EOF (Educational Opportunity Fund) programs and many other academic and student services. We have a long standing tradition of providing education to a diverse group of students.
The courses at Rowan at Camden are taught by members of the university faculty who take pride in teaching. We provide a schedule to accommodate the needs of the traditional and nontraditional students and on-site childcare for students with children.  We also provide a daily shuttle bus that travels between our Camden and Glassboro campuses to engage our students in a full university experience.

In addition to assisting students with their academic goals, we have many programs to help other members of the community. During the day we operate a preschool for 3 and 4 year old children funded by the Camden Board of Education and the NJ Department of Education. For over 20 years, the campus has been the home of CHAMP/GEAR UP, a pre-college program providing service to youth in high school.
As we look toward the future, we are planning to expand the campus. We will increase the access to higher education for our undergraduate population through special dual enrollment programs with area high school students. New and specific majors for undergraduate students at the Camden Campus are being developed by our faculty and administration.  A new graduate Ed.D. Cohort at the Camden Campus will provide professional development for the educators in school districts in the region.  Through the offering of continuing education and certificate programs employees of local corporations will be able to enhance their skills to succeed in their professions.

I invite you to learn more about us by visiting our website or contacting our office. Join us as we celebrate 40 years of service and look toward a future filled with academic achievement and success.

Sincerely,

Tyrone W. McCombs, Ph.D.
