The Rowan University Orchestra, under the direction of Salvatore Scarpa. presents the first of two concerts showcasing winners of the Department of Music's annual Student Soloist comeptition. The evening's program includes cellist Rachel Ellis performing Schumann's "Cello Concerto" and flutist Elizabeth Targett performing Khatchaturian?s "Flute Concerto.? The Orchestra will also perform Sibelius? "Karelia Overture," conducted by graduate student Lisa Miller, and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5.

Tickets are $10, general admission; and $5 for seniors/students/staff/alumni. Rowan students are admitted FREE with valid ID. Call the box office at 856-256-4545 or buy online at rowan.tix.com.

Other winners from this year's competition will be featured at the orchestra's final concert of the semester on May 7.
