The College of Performing Arts Faculty Spotlight Series presents 'A Pop Minimalist Performance' with Mark Zelesky on toy piano, saxophono and vocals on Monday, November 5 at 8 pm in Boyd Recital Hall.

The program features Zelesky playing two toy pianos along with soprano and alto saxophones, in addition to singing. The program includes the World Ppremiere of 'TBA' by Douglas Laustsen for toy piano with pre-recorded cicadas and wine glasses and the American premiere of 'WebernSpielWerk' for Toy Piano by Karlheinz Essl, as well as works by Bjork, David Bowie, John Cage, Mozart, Scott Matthew and Michael Torke (featuring sophomore Emily De Padua on flute). Admission is free and open to the public.

With an eye toward rethinking the context of certain concepts, the work in this exhibit seeks to alter the meaning of familiar subjects by combining them with (or transforming them into) updated or contradictory information; they take away what is assumed and replace it with something that may be completely unexpected.
