Director Kat Rohrer will present her documentary on human trafficking. Learn about global human trafficking and meet local organizations that are fighting modern slavery. Ida B. Wells, Lynching and Trayvon Martin Film and Discussion 06:00 PM - ? Location: Camden Technology Center (601 Cooper Street, Camden NJ) Moonstone Arts Center & Rowan University present Ida B. Wells, Lynching and Trayvon Martin Film and Discussion. The film "Ida B. Wells: A Passion for Justice" documents the dramatic life and turbulent times of the pioneering African American journalist, activist, suffragist and anti-lynching crusader of the post-Reconstruction period. Of all the great civil rights leaders, Ida B. Wells is one of the least known - yet one of the most important. An activist, educator, writer, journalist, suffragette, and pioneering voice against the horror of lynching, Ida B. Wells-Barnett was one of the most important and well known leaders of the African American struggle at the turn of the twentieth century but is almost unknown today. Why is that? A panel discussion will follow the film screeing. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. CHSS Speakers Series: "Journey of the Universe" | More Info 03:30 PM - 05:30 PM Location: Bozorth Hall Auditorium Contact: hasse@rowan.edu Journey of the Universe: Yale Expert on Ecology, Religion and Science to screen & discuss award-winning film "The film takes viewers on a journey from the Big Bang to the epic impact humans are having on the planet today." Join Dr. Mary Evelyn Tucker as she explores big science, big history, big story, in this one-of-a-kind film that she produced and co-wrote. The film weaves a tapestry that draws together scientific discoveries in astronomy, geology, biology, ecology, and biodiversity with humanistic insights concerning the nature of the universe. This film is designed to inspire a new and closer relationship with Earth in a period of growing environmental and social crisis. Dr. Tucker is a Senior Lecturer and Research Scholar at Yale University where she has appointments in the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, the Divinity School, the Department of Religious Studies, and the Center for Bioethics. She founded the Forum on Religion and Ecology that has an outreach to 12,000 people worldwide and is a member of the Earth Charter International Council. This event is free and open to the entire Rowan and surrounding community. It is also an academic enrichment event for the Rowan Seminar Passport Program.
