The Department of Theatre & Dance presents Tennessee Williams? rarely-produced play "Stairs to the Roof" directed by Lane Savadove October 19-21, 2012. Performances are Friday & Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 3 pm in Pfleeger Concert Hall.

This early work by the great American playwright is very different from his more well-known plays. In it a clerk stages a one-man rebellion against the clock, the monotony of his eight-to-five job, and the dehumanizing forces of an increasingly mechanized and commercial society. It takes a comic look at the effects of the Industrial Revolution and the birth of a new office cultural that drains the soul of people?s life and dreams.

Dr. Alexander Higgins was born in Philadelphia in 1944. Attended Temple University '65; Temple School of Medicine '69 Board Certified in Family Medicine 1976 to the present Fellow of the American Academy Family Physicians (FAAFP). Dr. Higgins has had a Family Practice from 1972-2012; Initially as a solo practitioner, then as head of Heights Primary Care; and then as a physician in Advocare-Heights Primary Care, in Haddon Heights, NJ. He has also been a Clinical Instructor in the Dept of Family Practice at Cooper University Hospital. He travels extensively to many countries in Europe, Asia, Great Britain and Central America and Mexico speaking at church conferences. Dr. Higgins is married, has two daughters and two grandchildren and has lived in Haddon Heights since 1969.

A brief history of human subjects research will be given, which examines the impact of unethical experiments and the subsequent policy changes that were implemented. We will discuss the current federal regulations for protection of human subjects that Rowan University adheres to, including vulnerable populations and informed consent. Further, participants will learn about the composition and function of Rowan's Institutional Review Board (IRB), when and how to submit protocol to the IRB, and types of review.
