An activist, educator, writer, journalist, suffragette, and pioneering voice against the horror of lynching, Ida B. Wells-Barnett was one of the most important and well known leaders of the African American struggle at the turn of the twentieth century but is almost unknown today. Why is that? A panel discussion will follow the film screeing. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Rowan Clarinet Day 2012 is hosted by Rowan clarinet faculty members Rie Suzuki and Joshua Kovach. The featured artists and guests include Daniel Gilbert, Associate Professor at University of Michigan and a former member of The Cleveland Orchestra; pianist Donna Lee, Associate Professor at Kent State University; David Gould, Vandoren Artistic Advisor and Product Specialist; Mark Jacobi, Clarinet Repair Technician, and The Rowan Clarinet Quartet (Jessica Smith; Michael Gruender; Patrick Dolan; Joseph Allen). Additionally, there will be clarinet exhibits and try-outs by Buffet Crampon, Vandoren and Hammer Woodwinds. Admission is free and open to the public.
