For many years now, the number of women choosing careers in the medical field has grown substantially, without significant increase in the percentage of women in leadership positions. A panel of women will provide thought-provoking dialogue on their sense of medical purpose, career struggles, and balancing life demands.

In this lecture, Dr. Dorothy Roberts, University of Pennsylvania School of Law, will outline the social construction of race and expose the historical entanglements of scientific research with the idea of biological race. The legacies of medical exploration, experimentation and neglect based on the interlocking realities of race, gender, and class will be given special attention within the frames of bioethics and legal boundaries for conducting research.

Flack Student Mentoring Program has coordinated a trip for it's participants and the wider Rowan University community to celebrate Black History Month by visiting relevant Black historical sites and monuments such as the the newly inaugurated Martin Luther King Jr. monument as well as visit the African American Museum at the Smithsonian.
