Installing and Enabling Java
The Citrix Receiver requires Java to be installed and enabled on your computer before you can use RowanCloud applications. To ensure that Java is installed and enabled, open Finder and navigate to Applications > Utilities > Java Preferences.
Double-click the “Java Preferences” application. If Java is not enabled, your computer will prompt you to install Java through the Mac’s Software Update feature. Once Java is installed, a Java Preferences box will open.
Under the “General” section, make sure that “Enable applet plug-in and Web Start applications” is checked and that all “Java SE” options are checked.
Installing the Citrix Receiver
Click the appropriate “Citrix Receiver” download link to begin. You may be prompted to save the file “CitrixReceiver.dmg” to your computer.
After you have downloaded the “CitrixReceiver.dmg” file, find and open the file on your computer. A Citrix Receiver box will appear. Click “Install Citrix Receiver.pkg” to begin.
A security dialogue may appear, alerting you that the installer will run a program to determine if the software can be installed. Click “Continue” on this box to proceed.
At the start of the installation, you will be taken to an installer introduction screen. Click “Continue” to proceed.
You will be taken to the License Agreement page. Click “Continue” to proceed.
The installer will ask you to confirm that you agree to the terms of the software license agreement. Click “Agree” to proceed.
If the installers asks you to choose a destination for the software, select to install the software to your local hard drive. Then, click “Continue” to proceed. Some computers may skip this step entirely.
On the next page, select “Install” to begin installing the Citrix Receiver.
Your computer will ask for your Macintosh user account name and password to verify the install. Type your Mac password and click “Install Software” to proceed.
The installation may take a few minutes to complete.
Once the installation is compete, click “Close” to finish the process.
Launching the Citrix Receiver
To launch the Citrix Receiver, open Finder and navigate to Applications > Citrix Receiver.
When you first open the Citrix Receiver, a dialogue box will ask you to enter a server URL. Copy and paste the following URL into the box:
Then, click “Next” to proceed.
Another dialogue box will appear, asking you to provide a username and password to log in to Rowan Virtual Apps. In the Domain\User field, type “rowanads\” followed by your Rowan network username. So for example, if your Rowan network username is “abcxyz34”, you would type “rowanads\abcxyz34” in this field.
After you’ve entered the Domain\User field, type your Rowan network password into the Password field and click “Log On” to proceed.
Using Rowan Virtual Apps
Once you’re logged in to the Citrix Receiver, click the “Add Apps” icon to begin accessing virtual applications.
You can now browse through the available Rowan Apps. Click on any App to add it to your Citrix Receiver library.
Once you’ve added Apps to your Citrix Receiver library, you can launch any of the Apps from the Citrix Receiver home screen.
