Message from Brother Kevin Montgomery, Pi Class

The Spring of 2000 brought about sweeping changes as the Phi class was introduced to the Fraternity. Brothers Terrence McBride, Mark Marmur, and Adam Syfman were initiated along with the new Chapter advisor, Kevin Miller. We celebrated our 9th anniversary with the traditional barbecue and the first ever Active vs. Alumni softball game. The actives dealt the Alumni a crushing defeat and promise to continue doing so! However, the year ended on a bitter sweet note as we also lost Brothers Ryan "Chachi" Harell and James Tomasino to the Navy.

During the summer of 2000, the Chapter was thrown another curve as the Township decided that our house of 2 years on Main Street was "unfit for human occupation". Our lease was voided and it looked like we may begin the year without a house, and with 5 Brothers on the Street. If it weren't for the dedication of many Brothers, the Chapter may not have found the house on 3 Mullica Hill road, and been able to fix it up in time for the fall semester.

Fall of 2000 began with Douglas Eaton and the Chi class being the first postulant class to pledge in the open. All functions were held in the library or Student Center making Alpha Chi Rho the first fraternity at Rowan to stand by its non-hazing pledge. Thom Hubbard held the reins as president and helped the Chapter in its transition in a new house.
