HISTORY

Beta Gamma Sigma is the honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International.  Students who rank in the top of their class are eligible for lifetime membership and national recognition of their scholarship. The principles of the Society are "honor, wisdom and earnestness." -- three qualities that are important for success in academe and beyond. Information about Beta Gamma Sigma can be obtained from the central office in St. Louis through their website located at http://betagammasigma.org/ .

Membership carries a variety of advantages along with the satisfaction that comes with public recognition of scholarship.  CareerLink is a job search service for members of Beta Gamma Sigma that introduces you to companies like Accenture, Ford, and U.S. Bank, who are looking to hire "the best in business".  Regional alumni associations in Philadelphia and New York meet to provide networking opportunities in the respective region.

The Rowan University collegiate chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma was recognized as a Premier Chapter for it's superior level of membership acceptance and promotional activities in the 2003-2004 academic year. Premier Chapter status affords eligibility to award a $1,000 Beta Gamma Sigma scholarship in the 2005-2006 academic year.
The chapter is also pre-qualified for consideration as an Outstanding Chapter, the highest honor attainable by a collegiate chapter. Of the 417 Beta Gamma Sigma chapters currently established on college and university campuses, only 62 were recognized as a Premier Chapter in 2004.

The College of Business Administration at Rowan University was installed as a chapter of  Beta Gamma Sigma in Spring 2003.  Beta Gamma Sigma succeeds Sigma Beta Delta, which served as the business honor society from 1996 - 2002 while the College of Business was a candidate for Accreditation by AACSB.
