  • Mission:

The mission of the Greek Community at Rowan University is to encourage and promote intellectual curiosity through academic achievement and to develop the personal and social skills of students by providing leadership opportunities through self-governance. In addition, the Greek Community strives to promote service through the University’s co-curricular programs and through community involvement. The co-curriculum, established by Rowan University’s Mission Statement on student development, promotes growth toward attitudinal and ethical development; and, responsibility to self and others through active participation in the betterment of the campus and larger community. The Greek Community is expected to plan its activities with academic and co-curricular mission of the University in mind.

As a result of membership within the Rowan University Sorority & Fraternity community, participants will:

  1. Consistently demonstrate leadership through self-governance and community engagement participation.
  2. Develop the leadership skills necessary to establish meaningful relationships that lead to collective action and promote positive change.
  3. Understand the importance of scholarship and practice academic responsibility.
  4. Practice citizenship through involvement in community service that resonates with the values of their Greek organizations.
  5. Demonstrate increased awareness of social justice issues such as culture, race, gender, class and sexual orientation.
  6. Exhibit and reflect personal responsibility in a living environment, which works collaboratively to create and achieve a unified Greek community.
  7. Build camaraderie based on shared values and commitment to the organization in the spirit of sisterhood/brotherhood.
  8. Display behaviors consistent with organizational values that encourage and challenge their peers to do the same.
  9. Enhance personal and organizational wellness by assessing risk and minimizing personal and/or chapter risk.
