The Southern New Jersey region lacks a strong economic engine for growth. Due to the small average size of business firms in Southern New Jersey (16 employees average), the dominance of family firms in our region, and the fact that 98% of all firms are classified as small business, there is a need for development of entrepreneurship in the region.
The benefits accruing to the Southern New Jersey region from the emphasis on
entrepreneurship are increased tax collections, increased employment, raised
incomes in the area, improved schools, and higher than average growth for
small businesses in the region. In addition, less educated workers will have the
opportunity to escape their previous alternative: low wage jobs.
The Rohrer College of Business at Rowan University offers business consulting services through in-class projects. Please visit the College of Business website for additional information: http://www.rowan.edu/business
