Rohrer College of Business Incubator
Developed and managed by the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Rowan University, the Rohrer College of Business Incubator is an engine for economic growth in the Southern New Jersey Region. Together the Incubator and Center have assisted tens of companies with their business plans, strategic plans and go-to-market plans by providing access to broad networks of professionals throughout the region, connection to Rowan faculty and students, office and reception services, research opportunities, and training and mentoring programs.
Located on the first floor of the Samuel H. Jones Innovation Center, the incubator, under the aegis of the Rohrer College of Business, provides business incubation facilities for emerging, regional, high growth technology businesses. Services include dedicated or shared (virtual tenants) Class A commercial space, with access to conference and meeting rooms, high speed internet and other telecommunications, state of the art printing and copying, reception and mail services.
Available space can range from one "pod" to multiple offices. Fully equipped laboratories, managed office space and office amenities, and access to an influential network of angel and venture capital investors, offer a "big company" lifestyle to small companies, ensuring that costs are kept low while service levels meet the needs of today's businesses. In addition, start-up companies thrive in a nurturing environment for growth. Each tenant company has access to extensive resources, support in developing business and technology plans, and opportunities to exhibit at conferences and venture capital showcases. Each can tap into a rich network of business resources, invaluable to a company's development: legal, venture capital, governmental, scientific, licensing, patent, grant funding, marketing, and e-commerce resources.
Emerging technology businesses located at the Rohrer College of Business Incubator benefit not only from the cache of the premier location and affiliation with Rowan University, but also from leveraging the assets of The Rowan Connection™ to accelerate product development and execution of their go-to-market plans.
The creation of the Rohrer College of Business Incubator has been many years in the making. Since the inception of the South Jersey Technology Park, a business incubator has been planned as a focal point of the project. Initially the incubator started out as a provision of space and mentoring for student-run companies at Rowan. Oversight was provided by the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE). To get a better handle on the market and needs of emerging tech-based companies, the CIE has provided mentoring services to a variety of start-ups over the past couple of years.
