Biography:

Daniel McFarland earned his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Drexel University. Prior to joining academia, Dr. McFarland worked in industry for over a decade at primarily large, multinational organizations, including Ford Motor Company, Visteon, Johnson & Johnson, and FMC Corporation. In 1997 he left industry to teach at Rowan. After teaching at Rowan for 2 years Dr. McFarland joined the faculty at La Salle University. Three short years later (in 2002), he returned to Rowan and is active in further improving the visibility of the MIS degree program. Specifically, Rowan's MIS degree is currently accredited by AACSB International and ABET. Only a handful of programs hold both of these prestigious accreditations! The MIS faculty fully expect to earn the ABET IS Program Accreditation by September 2008. Since 2005, Dr. McFarland has been the MBA Director and is working to improve the flexibility of MBA program offerings. Recent MBA initiatives include offering accelerated MBA options, off-campus MBA programs, international exchange programs, a Saturday MBA, post-master certificate program, and an online MBA Program. Dr. McFarland's current research interests include the influence of environmental factors on computing usage and behaviors, and pedagogical research relating to MIS.
