Mission Statement
The mission of the MIS program is to prepare students for careers in a rapidly changing technological world by training them to analyze business problems, challenges, and opportunities and to subsequently design, develop, implement and maintain business solutions through the use of information and information technology.
Student Learning Goals
The MIS specialization aims to prepare students who:
- Are competent in the analysis and design of information systems and understand what is involved in systems implementation.
- Understand project management and have experience using project management software.
- Exhibit good business communication and interpersonal skills.
- Are proficient in the use of a database management system and have experience creating database solutions.
- Can demonstrate programming competence using a modern programming language.
- Understand computer networking concepts.
- Understand e-business concepts.
- Have experience designing and developing dynamic web sites.
- Are able to identify ethical dilemmas in IS, and can make reasonable decisions in the face of ethical dilemmas.
- Have experience working in teams to design, develop, and manage complex IS projects from initial information gathering through final project implementation.
- Be proficient users of technology.
- Understand the use of technology within the business environment.
