Symposium: Issues and Challenges for Managing Sustainably

It has been over two decades since the Bruntdland Commission defined sustainability as ?addressing the needs of the present without jeopardizing the ability of future generations to meet their needs.? While there has been considerable development and debate at the highest political levels, along with an emerging set of global institutions, significant challenges remain with respect to the interrelationship between economic, environmental, and social imperatives. Panelists will discuss the progress made to date and outline some of the most difficult strategic challenges that lie ahead. Perspectives specific to nations, regions, and historical context will be explored to generate novel alternative viewpoints.
