Building an Entrepreneurial University: A Case Study using a New Venture Development Approach
This paper is a case study of one attempt to develop an entrepreneurial focus for a university to attain internal and external recognition as an "entrepreneurial university". A new venture development approach is used as an organizing tool, focusing on the need for the "product," motivations, marshalling the resources, implementation and extensions to the core product. Key findings show the roles of principal influencers and champions in successful implementation of the desired program (products). Equally clear is that the value added nature of the entrepreneurial program to the overall mission of the University and development of the region are critical to the program's development and sustainability.
