Rowan's Department of Public Relations and Advertising offers a wealth of opportunities for students interested in the growing fields of public relations and advertising.
All students receive a comprehensive education that includes a theoretical grounding in the field of communication combined with real-world experience in public relations and advertising practice. Students work in a robust learning environment with faculty members who are experienced educators and accomplished practitioners.
The department offers undergraduate majors in both public relations and advertising. It also offers an M.A. program in public relations. Click here for info on the M.A. program.
Rowan’s undegraduate Public Relations program, one of the oldest and largest in the country, is has received “Certified in Education for Public Relations” (CEPR) status from the Public Relations Society of America. Several of Rowan's public relations faculty also are Accredited in Public Relations (APR).
Each Rowan student can complete a public relations or advertising internship with a regional or national corporation, non-profit organization or educational institution.
Students also receive valuable experience working with Rowan's award-winning student organizations affiliated with the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and the American Advertising Federation (AAF).
Rowan's Anthony J. Fulginiti PRSSA Chapter has earned more national awards than any other PRSSA chapter in the country. It holds the distinction of being recognized as the nation's outstanding PRSSA chapter a record eight times. Rowan's Ad Club offers students opportunities to engage directly with area professionals in a wide range of mentoring and professional-service programs. Rowan students also operate two student-run agencies -- PRaction and Ad Dynamics -- that develop and implement campaigns serving business and public-service clients.
Students also benefit from Rowan’s extensive and active network of public relations and advertising graduates serving in communication leadership positions for businesses, non-profits, government and educational organizations throughout the country.
