Faculty and Staff
Dr. Jane Graziano taught art in New Jersey and New York City schools prior to joining the Department of Art at Rowan. These experiences helped shape her belief that the visual arts are essential to the perceptual, kinesthetic, cognitive and aesthetic growth of children and adolescents. Dr. Graziano presently coordinates the dual degree program in Art and Education. She is a course instructor for the program and clinical practice supervisor for Art’s teacher candidates. Dr. Graziano also coordinates the Saturday Morning Art (smART) program; a community outreach program offering visual arts classes for school age children on campus.
Dr. Graziano is published in scholarly and applied research journals and has given numerous presentations at state, national, and international art and education conferences. She twice received the New Jersey Governor’s Award for Leadership in Arts Education in 2011 and 2004. In 2012 the Art Educators of New Jersey recognized her for outstanding professional service, and in 2010 she received the Anthony Guadadiello Service Award, again for service to the profession. In 2005 she received the National Art Education Association Student Chapter Sponsor of Excellence Award for outstanding service in fostering student chapters at the university level for the state of New Jersey.
Dr. Graziano is currently serving as Vice-President Elect for the Art Educators of New Jersey, the state’s art education professional association. Dr. Graziano received her doctorate in Art and Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City; her undergraduate degree is from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.
