Charles Tucker is an artist and educator whose methodological practice borrows from research methods and techniques of both art and science. Tucker produces site-specific works, installation and sculptural objects. He has exhibited widely in Italy, Germany and Canada. His most recent exhibitions include work(s) being shown at the Banff Centre in Banff, Alberta, Canada in 2008 and 2009; the Sculpture Center in Cleveland OH in 2011; The Erie Art Museum in Erie PA in 2011; and the Boston Sculptors Gallery in Boston MA in 2012. Tucker has been awarded residencies at the Kunstseminar Freie Hochschule in Metzigen, Germany; the Legnodesign Atelier, Syracuse, IT; the Banff Center for the Arts in Banff Canada; and the Art Farm Residency Program in Marquette NE.
Tucker has taught at the University of Montevallo in Montevallo AL; Akron University Myers School of Art; the Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland OH where he served as the Chair of the Integrated Media Division and the Head of Sculpture; Banff Arts Centre; and Kent State before arriving at Rowan University. He holds an MFA in sculpture from the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa), a BFA at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, and BS in biology and geology from Livingston University (Livingston, AL).
