24 Hour Pre-Service Program at Rowan

Alternate Route Program at Rowan University

The New Jersey Alternate Route Program is a non-traditional teacher preparation program designed for those individuals with a bachelor's degree, who HAVE NOT completed a formal teacher preparation program at an accredited college or university, but wish to obtain the necessary training to become a New Jersey certified teacher. In order to be enrolled in the New Jersey Alternate Route Program, an individual must have a Certificate of Eligibility from the State and be employed in a teaching position. To take the Alternate Route classes, the employing school must process an enrollment application for the teacher through the Provisional Teaching Office in Trenton. There are no stand-alone undergraduate or graduate classes that can be taken to fulfill this program requirement prior to employment in a New Jersey school.
