ARAB 12.101 - 3 s.h.
Elementary Arabic I
This is a comprehensive foundation course for beginning students of Modern Standard Arabic. It offers an essential grounding for developing successful communication strategies by practicing listening comprehension and speaking skills with the sounds and characteristics of Arabic. It will also provide students with opportunities to read and write simple Arabic prose to meet their commuinication needs. It introduces students to the culture and history of the Arabic speaking world.

ARAB 12.102 - 3 s.h.
Elementary Arabic II
(Prerequisites: ARAB 12.101 or waiver)
This course provides an expanded overview of the syntax, structures and vocabulary of Modern Standard Arabic, including extended practice in the four skill areas of listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. It introduces students to the culture and history of the Arabic speaking world.
