Geography & Environment: Research and Projects
Faculty in the department conduct research across a broad range of topics including waste management, storm water management, human-environment interaction, participatory spatial planning, public health, food systems, geospatial analytical techniques, ecology, restoration and sensing urban place. Our outreach activities inform public policy, foster sustainable communities, and promote natural resource conservation, sustainable communities and smart growth development.
In the 2015-2016 academic year our faculty secured nearly $500,000 in external funds placing it among the most successful departments for externally funded project at Rowan University. Our faculty publish in internationally prominent journals, author technical reports that inform policy at local, state and regional scales and develop web-based tools to visualize data.
