Internship Sites New Jersey's Office of the County Prosecutor The Prosecutor is the chief law enforcement officer and the foremost representative of the Governor in the county. Appointed by the Governor, the Prosecute has been given the power to use all reasonable and lawful diligences for the detection, arrest, indictment, and conviction of offenders against the laws of the state. Except in certain matters that are handled by the Attorney General, the Prosecutor’s Office oversees all criminal business of the county.
