CHSS Speakers Series: "Journey of the Universe"
Date: Monday, December 3rd @ 3:30pm
Journey of the Universe: Yale Expert on Ecology, Religion and Science to screen & discuss award-winning film
"The film takes viewers on a journey from the Big Bang to the epic impact humans are having on the planet today."
Join Dr. Mary Evelyn Tucker as she explores big science, big history, big story, in this one-of-a-kind film that she produced and co-wrote. The film weaves a tapestry that draws together scientific discoveries in astronomy, geology, biology, ecology, and biodiversity with humanistic insights concerning the nature of the universe. This film is designed to inspire a new and closer relationship with Earth in a period of growing environmental and social crisis.
Dr. Tucker is a Senior Lecturer and Research Scholar at Yale University where she has appointments in the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, the Divinity School, the Department of Religious Studies, and the Center for Bioethics. She founded the Forum on Religion and Ecology that has an outreach to 12,000 people worldwide and is a member of the Earth Charter International Council.
This event is the first in the CHSS Speakers Series and is free and open to the entire Rowan and surrounding community. It is also an academic enrichment event for the Rowan Seminar Passport Program.
Sponsored by the Departments of Geography & Environment, Physics & Astronomy and Philosophy & Religion as well as the College of Humanities & Social Sciences.
