Communication Alumni

Dear Alumni:
I want to thank you for your generous support of your College of Communication and provide an update on what your contributions have allowed us to accomplish. In the past twelve months, we have brought our media production and broadcast capabilities into the twenty first century. We dedicated a new television broadcasting facility this spring that is the envy of many of our colleagues working in the industry. This summer we are completing a technological refit of the auditorium and conversion of a classroom into a state-of-the-art multimedia laboratory. This fall our students will be able to produce, edit, and display their excellent work in forms and venues that do it justice. This would not have been possible without the hard work of our faculty and staff and the financial support of alumni like you.

This coming year promises to be exciting and productive. We are in the process of developing independent degree programs for each of our specializations. Communication Studies, Radio, Television and Film, and the graduate program in Writing Arts are in the midst of program reviews that I am confident will validate the excellence of what they do. Public Relations/Advertising is working to develop a new M.A. program in Advertising and Journalism is laying the groundwork for AEJMC accreditation.

We want you to experience what we are doing. We are hosting an open house in the college as part of the homecoming festivities on Saturday morning, October 29th. Details will be included in the materials you receive from Alumni Affairs. We hope you will join us.

Thanks again for all you do in support of your College of Communication.
