Claudia Cuddy, Department Chair

Professor Cuddy teaches publication and publishing courses. Her textbook, Communicating with QuarkXPress, is in its fourth edition. Professor Cuddy has worked in health care publishing for 30 years and earned two M.A. degrees at Rowan University. She is a QuarkXPress Certified Expert as well as a certified Editor in the Life Sciences.

Mark Berkey-Gerard

Professor Berkey-Gerard earned his M.S. at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and now teaches mainly online writing courses including Online Journalism I and II, here at Rowan. Previously, he worked as the city government editor for GothamGazette.com in New York City. His research interests include interactive news and online storytelling.

Carl Hausman

Dr.Hausman teaches print, broadcast, and ethics courses. He is the author of 20 nonfiction books and the editor of a web-based newsletter on ethics. His interests include ethics, journalism of society, propaganda, and privacy issues. He earned his B.A. from the University of State of New York, M.A. from the University of Maryland, and a Ph.D. from Union Institute.

Candace Kelley

Professor Kelley earned her B.A. from Howard University, M.S. from Syracuse University, and J.D. from Seton Hall Law School. Professor Kelley teaches broadcast writing and production courses as well as Media Law. She hosts the NJN television series, Another View. She is the recipient of three Telly awards. She has also been nominated for an Emmy.

Kathryn Quiqley

Professor Quigley holds her B.A. from Villanova University and an M.A. from the University of Maryland. She teaches print writing courses and ethics and has worked for The Philadelphia Inquirer, Palm Beach Post, Orlando Sentinel, Daytona Beach News-Journal, and the Fayetteville Observer. Her interests include media ethics, children and families journalism, and pop culture.

Phil Anastasia

Professor Anastasia has taught at Rowan since 2004 and teaches magazine article writing and sports journalism. He has been a sports writer in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area since 1980 as well as a beat writer for the Philadelphia Eagles and sports columnist for the Courier-Post. Currently, he is a sports columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

George Clark

Professor Clark is a lifelong resident of South Jersey and a graduate of Glassboro State College. He recently retired after nearly 30 years as a reporter and editor for the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, N.J. Professor Clark teaches news reporting classes and also advises The Whit, Rowan’s weekly paper.

Carol Ann DeSimine

Professor DeSimine holds a master’s degree in Public Relations from Rowan University. She is the President of Big Eye Media, a marketing agency, and Photography by Carol Ann, a full-service portrait studio. She teaches photojournalism and publication layout and design classes.

Nick DiUlio

Professor DiUlio, along with being an adjunct professor, is a full-time freelance magazine writer and former editor of South Jersey Magazine. His work has appeared in publications such as New Jersey Monthly, Philadelphia Style, and the Courier-Post. Professor DiUlio teaches magazine article writing classes.

Professor Fuhrer has held positions as a copy editor, page designer, assistant features editor, assistant city editor, assistant sports editor, sports editor, and editor of various daily and weekly publications. Currently is in charge of communications and marketing for a private business. Professor Fuhrer teaches copy editing and publication layout courses.

Charles Harrison

Professor Harrison is the author of 11 nonfiction books and two novels. He has been a staff writer for two magazines and is a contributing writer to many other magazines. He is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors. Professor Harrison teaches Magazine Article Writing and has been a professor at Rowan for more than 20 years.

Professor Haught is the metro editor at The Daily Journal in Vineland. A Rowan University graduate, he has a background in business reporting and section editing and has been a journalist since 2001. Professor Haught teaches Enterprise Journalism and Publication Layout and Design.

Kristine Houck

Professor Houck is an executive editor for SLACK Incorporated. She currently works on the four international editions of Ocular Surgery News, a newspaper covering ophthalmology around the world. She is also certified as an Editor in the Life Sciences. She teaches Publication Layout and Design.

Morgan Johnson

Professor Johnson earned an M.A. in public relations from Rowan University in 2003. She has worked in both the government and nonprofit sectors and currently works for a nonprofit financial institution in Philadelphia. She has also worked as a freelancer to create Web sites and marketing materials for a small gourmet chocolate company and a local Philadelphia rock band.

Professor Lynn is a Rutgers journalism undergraduate and a 2005 graduate of Rowan’s public relations master's program. Professor Lynn Lynn teaches Publication Layout and Design. She is also a freelance writer and project manager of newsletters and annual reports for Rowan’s Colleges of Engineering.

Stephanie Zultanky Pavlou

Professor Pavlou is an adjunct professor who teaches the Journalistic Writing class for nonjournalism majors. In her full-time job, Professor Pavlou works as a staff writer for O&P Business News, a medical trade journal published by SLACK Incorporated. She recently became a certified Editor in the Life Sciences.

Amy Z. Quinn

Professor Quinn is an independent journalist who began her career in journalism covering South Jersey for The Philadelphia Inquirer. Currently, she writes a column for the Philadelphia City Paper and is a freelance contributor to the Inquirer and the Allentown (PA) Morning Call. She has won various awards for her journalism skills and works diligently to continue her success. Professor Quinn teaches a variety of journalism courses, including Media Ethics and Journalistic Writing.

Richard Rys

Professor Rys has been awarded by various organizations for his work in journalism. He holds a communication B.A. degree from Rowan and an M.A. in magazine journalism from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. His work has appeared in Men’s Journal, Self, and Men’s Health, among others. He is currently a contributing writer for Philadelphia magazine.

Lisa Samalonis

Professor Samalonis is a full-time freelance writer. Her work has appeared in many regional, national and online publications, including The Philadelphia Inquirer, Women’s Health Fitness, and Writer’s Digest. She is also a medical reporter and has written for many trade magazines, including Review of Ophthalmology and Dermatology Times. Professor Samalonis teaches magazine article writing classes.

Robert Tulini

Professor Tulinia has been at Rowan for 9 years. He is communities editor of the Courier-Post. He holds an M.A. degree in mass media and communication from Temple University. He has also worked in the newsrooms of the South Jersey Bureau of The Philadelphia Inquirer in Cherry Hill and WCZN-AM in Aston, PA. Professor Tulini teaches Enterprise Journalism and News I, taking students to the new world of online journalism.

Professor Willman is the Chairman and CEO of WMSH Marketing Communications in Haddonfield, NJ. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the U.S., he has been an Emmy-winning television news and public affairs producer for Group W and Satellite News Channel as well as an SPJ award-winning reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer. He teaches Radio Broadcasting, Media Law, and a variety of other courses.

Deb Woodell

Professor Woodell has been an adjunct professor at Rowan since 1999. She is a Glassboro State College graduate and has been a journalist for more than 30 years. Currently, she is a sports copy editor at the Philadelphia Daily News and author of “Whistling Past the Graveyard,” a blog about cemeteries and land use. Professor Woodell teaches copy editing.
