Rowan University's Department of Public Relations and Advertising provides students with a unique learning environment where they learn from seasoned professionals. Rowan students receive a comprehensive education that includes a theoretical grounding in the field of communication along with real world experience in writing, research, campaign planning, and problem solving. The list of successful graduates includes CEOs of area companies, directors of public relations and advertising for hospitals, and communication professionals in non-profit and for profit organizations. Many of its graduates also hold positions in education, and some own their own agencies.

Students also receive valuable experience working with Rowan's award winning student organizations. In fact, Rowan's Anthony J. Fulginiti Public Relations Student Society of America Chapter boasts more national awards than any other chapter in the country. Rowan's chapter holds the distinction of being awarded the nation's outstanding chapter five times. Advertising students gain valuable experience in Rowan's Ad Club, a college chapter of the American Advertising Federation. The chapter services more than 90 members and provides them with mentoring and professional service programs. Students take this valuable experience to land prestigious internships that often pave the way for lucrative professional careers.

Rowan's unique and highly competitive Department of Public Relations and Advertising offers a wealth of opportunities for students interested in the growing fields of public relations and advertising. Its highly trained faculty fosters an environment where students learn and grow while mastering the essential skills needed for success. Faculty remain active in a variety of professional organizations including the Public Relations Society of America, and the National School Public Relations Association.

Public Relations & Advertising Specialization Requirements

Rowan University has one of the largest, oldest, and "winningest" Public Relations and Advertising Programs in the country. During its 25 year history at Rowan, both programs have garnered a long list of accomplishments. The unique blend of classroom lectures and hands-on training offer students real-world experience to accompany their core knowledge of public relations and advertising.

PRAction, an award winning student public relations firm, and Rowan's Ad Club, a chapter of the American Advertising Federation, offer a unique environment for majors to hone their skills. A recognized leader in communication education, Rowan University offers students an excellent opportunity to ply their skills in a variety of professional settings including education, law, politics, health care, and business. Some organizations that employ Rowan graduates include Disney World, Ketchum Public Relations, Campbell's Soup Company, Boeing, and NBC Studios.

In addition to classroom training and involvement in student groups, Rowan students can complete public relations or advertising internships with local and national corporations and non-profit groups. Professors and alumni working in the field often can help students find such positions. In fact, many alumni serve as professional mentors for Rowan students.
