Public Relations & Advertising
Online Communication (IAOC) Rowan University is among the first to offer both classroom and hands-on opportunities for students seeking real-world experience in online communication. Rowan's Public Relations/Advertising Department provided the seed funding to form the International Association of Online Communicators (www.onlinecommunicators.org). Since IAOC's founding in September 2004, Rowan faculty, students and alumni have played key roles in developing the association and two faculty members currently serve as officers. For graduate students and seniors in good standing, Rowan offers classroom training on Internet PR and online marketing communications. As part of their classroom experience, students have an opportunity to assist in planning and developing IAOC events and to participate in the IAOC blog (www.IAOCblog.com), one of the rising stars of PR blogging. Professors and alumni working in the field often can help students find internship and career opportunities in online communication. IAOC Mission Statement The International Association of Online Communicators (IAOC) is dedicated to promoting and preserving the open and free communication that has been the foundation of the Internet community. Its purpose is to provide a network through which practitioners and educators can share knowledge and ideas. The Association is a place where Internet content creators and publicists can join together to define and advance their roles in this emerging professional arena. Membership is open to all those whose work or teaching is centered on Internet content creation, including writers, editors, producers, college professors and online publicists. |
