The Radio Television Film Department offers numerous extracurricular clubs for students to get involved after class. From producing Television and Radio Shows to creating short films in 16mm color and black and white film or Mini DV, the RTF clubs offer "real world" experience outside the classroom.

Rowan Television Network

Established in 1993, the Rowan Television Network (RTN) celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The station, formerly known as Channel 5, delivers 24 hours of continuous programming via closed-circuit television. Run entirely by students, RTN features a variety of programs catering to a diverse audience. Covering campus events, celebrating cultural history months and creating original programming, RTN strives to promote unity and awareness.
RTN offers students the opportunity to produce, direct or star in their own TV programs. With a $130,000 grant from the Student Government Association, Rowan students work with broadcast quality equipment including DVC-pro and AVID.

Rowan viewers can tune into sporting and local events, student-produced television shows, student-produced films and syndicated programming provided by the Burly Bear Network. RTN progresses in its professionalism and extended coverage with its experienced crew and access to advanced technology.
One of RTN's newest programs, appealing to music lovers across campus, includes The Pit. It will feature live performances from upcoming bands as well as music videos not found on major networks such as MTV or VH1.
Another show, entitled On Patrol, follows public safety officials around campus as they do their part to keep the university safe. Along with this year's new programming, RTN will continue broadcasting old favorites. Up All Night with Kurt Magnum, a spicy late-night-entertain show, changes its look this season. A new set adds a different flair to the show's format.
Meetings take place Tuesday evenings at 7 P.M. in room 49, Bozorth Hall (Open to all majors). Live video production occurs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the Bozorth Studios. Contact RTN at 256-4632 or visit its web site at RTNCH5.tv.

Cinema Workshop

Cinema Workshop has been Rowan University's student filmmaking club for over 25 years.  Cinema Workshop offers students the opportunity to work on film, video and multimedia projects outside the classroom experience.  Students take skills learned in production classes and apply them to creative work either more personal or larger in scope than what is possible within the confines of a  15 week course of study.  After a peer-oriented pitch and approval process, Cinema  Workshop provides grants in the form of goods and services through post-production, culminating in a year-end screening of often award-winning films and videos. In addition to production, Cinema Workshop actively promotes cinema studies by organizing screenings of old and new Hollywood movies, foreign films, and independent cinema. These screenings are not exclusively for the benefit of Cinema Workshop members, but for the entire student body .Cinema Workshop also provides a link to former members, many of whom are working professionals in the field of film and video production.
Cinema Workshop is co-advised by Dr. Joseph Bierman and Mr. Sean O'Leary.
