Established
in 1993, the Rowan Television Network (RTN)
is a student service organization chartered
under the Rowan University Student Government
Association to provide all eligible students
from any major at Rowan University with the
opportunity to gain experience in the field
of television production beyond the classroom
setting. Housed in Bozorth Hall in the College
of Communications, RTN also delivers 24/7
continuous programming to the entire Rowan
community via Channel 5 on the Rowan University
campus. Led and operated completely by its
student-members and under the guidance of
its faculty advisor, RTN provides all of its
members with the creative freedom and technical
ability to develop and produce their own ideas
including a variety of programs catering to
a diverse audience. By covering such things
as student activities, university events,
theatrical productions, Prof’s sports,
and creating original programming, RTN strives
to promote unity, awareness, and service to
the Rowan University community of learners.
Members also have the opportunity to receive
one-on-one training with professional standard
equipment. Expanding from a $130,000 grant
from the Student Government Association, RTN
is committed to providing students with access
to new state of the art equipment including
HD Video, DVCPro, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe
Premiere Pro so that it’s members can
gain valuable experience with the same equipment
and software they will be using after graduation.
RTN also allows its members to create a network
of contacts with peers, professional staff,
and alumni who are working in the field. Not
only that but RTN members are given the chance
to build a video reel of their work as well
as being instilled with a professional attitude
which will help them beyond their time at
Rowan University.
