John Holly

John Peter Holly is a conductor, music administrator and educator who has worked with musical organizations throughout New Jersey for the past 35 years. Mr. Holly holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in music from The Juilliard School in New York, where he studied tuba and conducting.

As a conductor, he has worked with the Westminster Schola Cantorum, the Philadelphia Sinfonia, the American Boychoir, Voices Chorale, the Riverside Symphonia, the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, and the New Jersey Intercollegiate Band. In 1980, he founded the New Jersey Choral Society and served as its music director until 1988. He is currently the executive director and conductor of the Greater Trenton Symphony Association, a position he has held since 1990.

As a music administrator, he has worked with The State Theatre in New Brunswick, the Opera Music Theatre Institute in Newark, the Newark Community School of the Arts, the New Jersey Band Association and the Association of New Jersey Orchestras.

As an educator, he has taught courses in arts administration at Westminster Choir College of Rider University. He currently teaches Music In World Cultures and Music Appreciation at Rowan University.
