The Romanian-born cellist has played concerts with major orchestras, recitals and chamber music in Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Romania and U.S.A. Fiery temperament and superb musicianship make him an ideal chamber music recitalist. A graduate of the Bucharest Music Academy he studied with Serafim Antropov, Petre Lefterescu, Uzi Wiesel and Laszlo Meszo. He won top prizes in Romanian National Music Festivals and in Florence Vittorio Gui International Chamber Music Competition. Mr. Atanasiu has participated in numerous prestigious music festivals like Bayreuth Youth Festival, International Music Seminar Weimar, Hitzacker Chamber Music Academy and Carmel Bach Festival. Mr. Atanasiu teaches cello at Rowan University of New Jersey and currently is associate conductor for Main Line Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. He has given Master Classes at Trenton State College, Eastern Nazarene College and in Romania. |
