The Lab Band has used saxophones, violins, bassoon, trumpets, tubas, multiple guitars, trombones, bass, drums, harp, contrabassoon, three person vocal choir, french horn, flutes, keyboard, multiple lutes and more. All of the Lab Band's music is written specifically for the group by faculty and students. All members learn to improvise, perform as ensemble and learn how to create a piece for the group. The Lab Band performs regularly on and off-campus.
Lab Band - "What is Dundalk Broo" Jazz Band; George Rabbai, DirectorThe Rowan University Jazz Band is an ensemble cast in the traditional big band model trailblazed by greats like Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, and Stan Kenton. The Jazz Band performs much of the traditional big band repertoire as well as contemporary works. Jazz Band rehearsals emphasize preparation for performances, ensemble playing, and sight-reading.
