Alexander Timofeev


Noted for intense lyricism and polyphonic wit, Alexander Timofeev's compositions received top awards at Valsske Mezirici International Competition (Slovakia), Slonimsky International Competition (Russia) and Carl Filtsh International Competition (Romania), welcoming premieres at the Philomusica Festival (England), Hariclea Darcl?e Voice Competition and Festival (Romania), Novye Imena (Russia), Northern Lights Festival (USA) and other festivals. In 2006, Timofeev debuted as a conductor with the National Chamber Orchestra of Moldova. His conducting engagements at the Northern Lights Music Festival (Aurora, MN) featured Britten's opera Noye's Fludde (2008) and Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel (2009). Mr. Timofeev is the beneficiary of the University of Maryland Doctoral Fellowship. He is currently on the adjunct faculty at Rowan University in New Jersey. He resides in Philadelphia. In 2008, Alexander Timofeev founded the International Society of Pianists and Composers - - a non-profit organization that promotes contemporary piano music. For more information, please visit
