Lauren Athey-Janka


Lauren Athey-Janka, soprano, is a prominent voice teacher in the tri-state region. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. As a performer, she enjoys singing both classical and musical theater repertoire. Ms. Athey-Janka has performed oratorios and operas with various opera companies in Philadelphia and with Westminster Opera Theater. She has performed with New York Opera Studio, (coaching with Nico Castel), The Florence Voice Seminar, and with Rising Star Singers in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has won vocal competitions in Boston, Philadelphia and NJ. Ms. Athey-Janka has lived in Florence, Italy during the summers of 2005-2011, singing and studying the Italian language. Ms. Athey-Janka is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in vocal performance at Temple University. She holds Master of Music degrees in voice performance and voice pedagogy from Westminster Choir College and a Bachelor of Music degree in voice performance from Boston University. Ms. Athey-Janka teaches a healthy technique to instill a solid foundation for vocal production. This classical instruction can be adopted into many genres, such as opera and musical theatre. Lauren also provides overall musical training in her lessons, such as piano skills, ear training and sight reading - all essentials for being a great singer! Ms. Athey-Janka's students have continued their vocal studies at many prestigious college classical vocal and music theater programs.
