January 7, 2013
Dear Rowan Prep families and friends,
Our musical momentum continues as we walk forward into our winter/spring, 2013 semester! As always, we welcome you - our musical family of students, all ages and skill levels - to join in our Rowan Prep team of excellent teacher/performers in private instruction, group classes and/or ensembles.
We continue our focus on our musical community to BE INSPIRED...CREATE...RE-IGNITE YOUR MUSICAL PASSION...PRACTICE...COLLABORATE...AND EXCEL...all mission-based words that give momentum to our school's growth and dedication to learning and playing music. Our Rowan Prep family is now 225+ members, including our private instruction students, our beginner group & ensembles members, our Music Together Classes, our new Glassboro Academy/Rowan Prep program, and, our Rowan Youth Orchestra. AND, our growth continues in our new class/music offerings - with a new guitar program, under the direction of John Demko (private and group classes); our newest voice faculty member, Christina Bihler, who begins teaching private voice on Wednesdays, and will also co-direct our Music Theater Audition Workshop on Sunday, January 27 with John Baccaro. (To be a participant in the Masterclass/workshop, there is a $30 fee; the workshop is free and open to all families). Bryan Appleby-Wineberg will be forming our very own "Youth Brass Band", coached by Dr. Appleby-Wineberg and members of The Atlantic Brass Band. (The Youth Brass Band will meet on Sundays, starting January 20, from 4:00 - 5:30.) We also continue to offer placement (audition required) in some of our University ensembles - including our Men's Chorus (directed by Christopher Thomas), our Concert Band (directed by Vincent DuBeau), and our Wind Ensemble (directed by John Pastin, Dean, College of Performing Arts). The combined energy of ALL our faculty members helps our students find their "voice", and inspires all of our students to strive for excellence.
Please know that my door/email/phone are always open for your questions, comments and thoughts about how to make Rowan Prep even more welcoming. (dimedio@rowan.edu; direct phone: 856-256-4556) I am available to meet with you/your child for consultations during work hours: Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. to find the "best fit" for your child in his/her musical journey.
Registration is ongoing throughout the 2013 Winter/Spring Semester. We invite you to follow us on our new "Rowan Prep" facebook, a place for our musical dialogue, and "walk through" our website to find out about our current offerings. We also thank you in advance for helping us spread the word to your friends, so that we can include more of our Glassboro and surrounding area families in our musical mission.
Onward!
