Dear Rowan Prep families and friends,
It is so wonderful to continue Rowan Prep's 4th anniversary as YOUR community school of music here at Rowan University this spring. We are commited to continuing our healthy growth -- in individual instruction in all instruments, Suzuki string program, group classes and ensembles, and The Rowan Youth Orchestra - with our new and wonderful Maestro, Matthew B. Dell! Our pillars are built on the building blocks of excellence in teaching -thanks to our nurturing and exquisite faculty, and, a spirit of inclusivity - with offerings that include not only our classes and workshops, but with that of our "partners" here at Wilson Hall - the magnificent music department, College of Performing Arts at Rowan University. Being a member of Rowan Prep's musical family will allow you to attend the exciting concerts here at the University (most concerts for free to students; discounted tickets to certain events). Therefore, we urge you to "jump in", take advantage of the Music, and Theater and Dance departments here at the College of Performing Arts. Information about these events will be posted in our calendar here on our website, but also on our facebook (so please join TODAY - Rowan Prep) .
Our Rowan Prep family is now 250+ members, including our private instruction students, our beginner group & ensembles members, our Music Together Classes, our growing Glassboro Academy/Rowan Prep program, and, our Rowan Youth Orchestra. This year we are expanding our vocal program - with University faculty,Nicholas Saverine, and Prep faculty, Robert Rowland and Katharine Baer. We are starting our "Basics of Singing Group Class (ages 8-12), which is the perfect (and healthy) way to begin your child's vocal journey (first class: Thursday, January 16) Due to the success of last semester's Brass Day, we are excited to launch the 2nd year of our Youth Brass Band, directed by, Dr. Appleby-Wineberg and members of The Atlantic Brass Band. Small ensembles are forming this spring - so if you are interested in playing in our Saxophone Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, or even creating a string ensemble. Bottom line - we are here to welcome you, inspire you, and "make it happen".
We will continue to offer placement (audition required) into some of our University ensembles - including our Men's Chorus, directed by Christopher Thomas, our Concert Band, directed by Vincent DuBeau, and our Wind Ensemble, directed by Bruce Yurko. The combined energy of ALL our faculty members helps our students find their "voice", and inspires all of our students to strive for excellence.
Please know that my door/email/phone are always open for your questions, comments and thoughts about how to make Rowan Prep even more welcoming. (firstname.lastname@example.org; direct phone: 856-256-4556) I am available to meet with you/your child for consultations during work hours: Mondays through Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. to find the "best fit" for your child in his/her musical journey.
Registration is ongoing throughout the 2014 Spring Semester. We invite you to like/follow us on our new "Rowan Prep" facebook, a place for our musical dialogue, and "walk through" our website to find out about our current offerings. We also thank you in advance for helping us spread the word to your friends, so that we can include more of our Glassboro and surrounding area families in our musical mission.
Onward through year 4!!!
