Undergraduate Degree Completion

B.A. in Elementary Education/Writing Arts Dual Major
at Camden County College

This program is offered on the campus of Camden County College only.  It is ideal for those who enjoy working with children and want to make a lasting impact on their lives.  The NJ Instructional Certificate in Elementary Education qualifies program candidates to teach kindergarten through grade five.  This program also includes a dual major in Writing Arts which draws its coursework from the College of Communications. 

Admissions requirements

• At least 60 college credits or an Associate’s degree (If transferring from Camden County College, you must have that Associate’s degree completed prior to beginning the Rowan program).
• 2.5 cumulative GPA
• Completed application
• One official transcript from all colleges attended

Application deadline

Due to the complicated nature of the admissions evaluation process, students are strongly encouraged to apply at least one full month before their desired entry point. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis up until the official deadline which is listed in the Application Form. Applications must be complete by this deadline in order to receive a decision before the semester begins.

Program requirements

• 122 credits are required to complete this program (CPCE provides students with 67 of the 122 required program credits)
• Coursework includes field experience – day-time hours in a classroom working with actual teachers and students
• Student teaching/clinical practice

Coursework

Classes typically last 16 weeks and meet in the evening (and on Saturdays).  Field experience will take place during the day on a given weekday. See the Course Description Sheet for a full list of courses and course descriptions.
