REGISTER FOR A CPCE COURSE
How to Register for a CPCE Course
To register for a CPCE course, first determine which student registration category fits your situation (from the list below) and then follow the registration steps for that category.
Student Registration Categories & How to Register
There are three major student registration categories, each of which has its own process for CPCE registration. All students will fall in one of the categories listed below regardless of what level of study you wish to pursue (undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, graduate or doctoral).
- CPCE Students & How to Register
- CPCE students are manually registered by CPCE’s Enrollment Team for the classes in their CPCE program according to the Personalized Course Sequence (PCS) that they receive from CPCE during the admissions process. Before registration can take place however, CPCE students must submit the signed CPCE Student Guide & Agreement to the CPCE Enrollment Team. This triggers the registration process.
- You are a CPCE student if you have been admitted and matriculated into a CPCE degree/certificate program. If/when you receive an offer of admission from CPCE, you will be instructed to submit to the CPCE Enrollment Team the signed CPCE Student Guide & Agreement Signature Page accepting the offer of admission. Once you have done so and that acceptance is entered into Rowan’s system, you are considered a “matriculated CPCE student.”
- If you would like to become a CPCE Student, your first step is to connect with a CPCE Administrative Advisor or if you already know you want to apply, click here for CPCE Admissions Information.
- *If you have already been admitted and matriculated as a CPCE student, click here to learn exactly what is necessary to trigger the manual registration process for your CPCE course(s).
- Traditional, On-Campus Rowan Students & How to Register
- Traditional, on-campus students who want to register for a CPCE class are manually registered by CPCE’s Enrollment Team. Before registration can take place however, traditional students must submit the signed CPCE Override Form (for the Traditional Student) to the CPCE Enrollment Team. Once the signed form is received by CPCE’s Enrollment Team, if space is available, CPCE will register the student and confirm the registration via email. (If space is not available, you will be notified by CPCE via email.) Only a fully signed Override Form triggers the registration process.
- You are a traditional, on-campus student if you have been admitted and matriculated into a traditional Rowan University degree/certificate program either through the Undergraduate or Graduate Admissions Offices.
- If you would like to become a traditional, on-campus Rowan student, your first step is to connect with the Undergraduate Admission Office or the Graduate School Office (Graduate Admissions).
- If you have already been admitted and matriculated as a traditional, on-campus Rowan student, but would still like to enroll in a CPCE course, click here to download the CPCE Override Form in order to request manual registration.
- Non-matriculated/Visiting Students & How to Register
- Non-matriculated or visiting students who want to register for a CPCE class are manually registered by CPCE’s Enrollment Team. Before registration can take place however, non-matriculated/visiting students must submit the signed CPCE Activation & Permission Form to the CPCE Enrollment Team. Once the signed form is received by CPCE’s Enrollment Team, if space is available, CPCE will register the student and confirm the registration via email. (If space is not available, you will be notified by CPCE via email.) Only a fully signed Activation & Permission Form triggers the registration process.
- You are a non-matriculated/visiting student if you have not (or not yet) been formally admitted and matriculated into a Rowan degree/certificate program either on-campus or through CPCE. (If you have attended Rowan in the past or recently submitted an application to Rowan but have not yet received an official decision, you will still fall in this category.)
- If you would like to become a non-matriculated/visiting student, your first step is to choose which course you would like to take. The pathway to sign up as a non-matriculated student depends upon whether that course is a CPCE course, a traditional on-campus undergraduate course, or a traditional on-campus graduate course.
- If that course is a CPCE course (regardless of level) then you should follow the CPCE registration link in the bullet below to learn how to register.
- If it is a traditional on-campus undergraduate course, then you should call the Registrar’s Office at 856-256-4360 to get set up in the system properly for registration.
- If it is traditional on-campus graduate/doctoral course, then you should complete the “Request to Register for a Graduate Course” form available from the Graduate School website.
- If you have already been set up (or are already taking classes) as a non-matriculated student and would like to take a CPCE course or you need to be set up as a non-matriculated student and know that the course you want is a CPCE course, click here for the CPCE Activation & Permission Form which will trigger the CPCE Enrollment Team to contact you about the manual registration process.
If you are unsure of which category you fall into or which course you want to take, please contact cpceacademicservices@rowan.edu with your questions.
CPCE Registration-Related Deadlines
All of Rowan’s courses (traditional and non-traditional) are included in the official online listing called the Section Tally. A CPCE course is easily identifiable in the Section Tally by a letter that is included after every course section number in the “Sect” column.
Because they serve non-traditional students, CPCE courses are offered in a variety of ways: online, web-assisted, face-to-face, or a combination of these. CPCE classes are also different lengths; most are 8 week but some are 12, 14 or even 16 weeks. We also have customized courses that could be any length.
Due to this diversity of CPCE course offerings, the Section Tally is key to understanding details about a particular CPCE course. Students should use the information in the Section Tally to make sure they have all necessary information about their CPCE course including: start and end dates, meeting times and locations (if applicable) as well as costs and texts. (Click here for tips for navigating the Section Tally.)
For those in CPCE courses, one of the most important items in the Section Tally is the “Part of Term” column. Part of Term will not only tell you when a course begins and ends; but it will also let you know which registration deadline to follow. Registration-related deadlines for CPCE courses are different for the traditional and non-traditional models. Therefore, CPCE classes may be offered within a number of special CPCE “Parts of Term.”
If you notice that the course in which you are interested is a CPCE course, check the “Part of Term” column in the Section Tally. Match that to the Part of Term in the header in the CPCE Part of Term Chart below and then follow the registration-related deadlines as listed.

Registration
Period for CPCE Classes |
CPCE students are manually registered for their classes for the entire year.
Any other student desiring a CPCE class may contact CPCE with the proper forms as early as the term before and up to 1 week before the class begins. CPCE students who want to take a traditional course will need an override form and will follow the traditional Rowan schedule for the term as listed on the registrar’s website: www.rowan.edu/registrar. |

Payment and bills
for CPCE Students |
All costs for your registered CPCE courses will be listed in the Rowan Self-Service area under "account summary."(You may always view/print your bill at any time via the Banner self-service website at www.rowan.edu/selfservice.) Please understand that this online account summary is your official bill. Given the timing of registration for CPCE students or those in CPCE classes, it may be that no other notification or bill will be sent. So, it is important that you check your account statement/bill every time you register and that you pay this bill in a timely manner.
For those matriculated in CPCE programs, payment is expected before classes begin. Those who do not pay before classes begin may receive late fees and/or holds which would bar future registration. Non-CPCE/non-matriculated students or traditional matriculated Rowan students will be required to follow the bill payment deadlines as listed in the appropriate term’s Schedule of Courses at www.rowan.edu/registrar. |
