Goals of the BTIC

• Reduce the dropout rate of new teachers during their first and second year of teaching
• Provide support for beginning teachers by expanding professional learning experiences
• Assist beginning teachers in adapting to their new school environment
• Encourage the value of life-long learning among beginning teachers
• Provide beginning teachers with research based strategies, training, and technical assistance from BTIC staff, and a cadre of veteran educators from the southern New Jersey region
• Technical assistance to local school districts to establish support systems for new teachers
