Textbook Information for
Introductory Physics Courses
Fall 2016

We realize that the cost of textbooks is continually increasing. In light of this fact we offer three options for you to get the required reading and access to the online homework system. In general, your options are (in decreasing order of cost): buy the full hardcover text with access card registration code; buy the looseleaf text with access card registration code; buy just the access card with, or without, an online ebook.

Important: if you go with any of the Choice 3 options below, you will still be required to have a text to read. Classes are designed to not simply cover all section topics in lecture—if you do not read your text before coming to class, you will quickly find yourself lost and behind and not getting all the material. The text you buy may be an older edition of the required text, or really any other introductory physics text published in the past five years. It will be up to you to "translate" chapter/section numbers from those in the recommended text to the those in the text you purchase.

If you do purchase some other text be sure to get the right type. In general a "University" text means it uses calculus and a "College" text means it is algebra-based. Some standard authors for calculus based courses are Halliday, Resnick, & Walker; Young & Freedman; Tipler & Mosca; Serway & Jewett. Some standard authors for algebra-based courses are Cutnell & Johnson; Serway & Faughn; Giordano; Knight, Jones, & Field; Urone; Walker.

Now, scroll down to the title of your specific course to find the specific options available to you:
