Field: Experimental Solid State Physics
Research: I have developed a technique that combines both scanning electron microscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy at ETHZ. This technique, now known as near field emission scanning electron microscopy (please see publications), allows for nanometric spatial resolution of "clean" conducting surfaces. My current research is devoted to exploring the full functionality of NFESEM, as well as all of the theoretical aspects underlying the various interactions associated with the initial electron beam generation, the specimen excitations, and the subsequent ejection and detection of electrons.
