The psychology department at Rowan University offers a 21 credit hour minor in psychology. This program is designed for students desiring a substantial background in psychology while majoring in another field. The minor allows students the flexibility to choose courses that will further their career goals. Courses should be selected in consultation with your major academic advisor or career goals.
I. Foundation Course (3 s.h.)
- Essentials of Psychology (prerequisite for most Psychology courses)
II. Upper Level Courses (6 s.h.)
- Students who minor in psychology must take at least two upper-level psychology courses (300 or 400 level courses). You can determine the course level by looking at the course number. For example, PSY 101 is a 100-level course while PSY 310 is a 300 level course. Course numbers can be found in the section tally as well as in the academic course catalog.
III. Elective Courses (12 s.h.)
- Any other psychology courses, at any level, will satisfy this requirement
Of these courses, no more than 6 credit hours may be transferred from another institution. Students should consult the Department of Psychology by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org to address questions about any transfer courses. The above list is intended to provide a guide to show the levels of currently-offered courses. Students who have completed other courses in the Psychology Department which are no longer offered can still apply them to the minor, pending review by the Department of Psychology. Some courses offered have prerequisites or other restrictions, and may not be offered regularly.
For questions about the minor, please email email@example.com.
